Could you imagine looking directly at a screen everyday for 4 hours straight. Then one day you get eye straining, having problems sleeping, and the brain being affected. Just think of what you would have to go through. Your life could be all ruined just by looking at a screen and causing the brain to not work, not being able to sleep ever again, and they would have really bad eye problems. One reason why I think kids should not look at a screen for too long is, they watch it so much that they can remember anything they learned. The reason for this is, if you watch tv for 4 hours everyday constantly you won’t remember things you learn kind of like short-term memory. Also looking at a screen for too long can effect your brain because, the screen can mess with your brain. The reason for this is, if you spend all your time at home looking at a screen then your brain starts going everywhere and doesn’t know what it needs to focus on. My last fact why kids should not look at a screen for a long time is, there grades could start -dropping because, the don’t get enough sleep for bedtime. The reason for this is, they look on their screens right before they go to bed so they don’t go to bed that night. This is why there grades drop because they are too tired to do things in school because, they didn’t get enough sleep. This is one fact why looking at a screen for too long is really bad for children. Another reason why I think kids should not look at a screen for too long is, it won’t make you tired enough to go to bed. The reason for this is, it can impact on how much sleep you get. For example, if you are about to go to bed and you still are looking at a screen then it could make you hyper or not tired, you won’t want to go to bed. This is why doctors say that you shouldn’t look at a screen for 2 hours before bed or you won’t get sleep. Your brain will start saying don’t go to bed, and that’s how you will not be tired at bedtime.¨ this proves how looking at a screen before bed will make you not want to go to bed. Also it can cause hormones. Because of this you will act different and it will disrupt sleep patterns. This means, since the screen is so bright, it will make you more hyper and you then don’t want to go to bed. So turn down the brightness of your screen when you even look at a screen anytime of day or it will make you hyper and you will then not want to go to bed. My last and final reason why I think kids should not look at a screen for too long is, it can cause eye problems. It can cause this because of how bright the screen is, it impacts on your eye vision. The reason for this is, it causes really bad eye straining, especially for kids. According to christopher Starr, the professional ophthalmology, ¨you get dry spots, blurred vision, it can cause redness near your eyes, pain, and over the course of the day it just worsens and worsens.¨ This proves how your eyes can get ruined and get strained by all this information by christopher starr. My second piece of evidence for that it can cause eye problems is, your eyes will get dry. This happens because if you stair at the screen for too long without blinking then your eyes can start to get watery and dry. For example, when youre looking at a screen for too long and not blinking or if your an inch away from the computer your eyes will be starting to get really dry. This is my last fact why looking at a screen for too long is bad for children. Some critics may say, looking at a screen can help you learn, but you can also get brain problems, eye problems, and not being able to sleep. They also might say, looking at a screen is fun because you can see things you can never see often like ( hawaii, disney world, etc.) but it can give you eye problems because your looking at a screen instead of just going there. Also it can give your brain some bad, bad, bad ,problems too. To wrap it up, this is why you shouldn’t look at a screen for more than 2-3 hours for kids ages 5+. It can affect your brain, not being able to sleep, and give you eye problems. So remember to never look at a screen for too long or you will have some really bad problems like affecting your brain,sleeping problems, and gives you eye problems.
